  Firefight at Fort Stewart!

  this past weekend i went down to fort stewart.

  georgia state defense force had been asked to supply troops to assist in the training for national guard preparing to deploy to afghanistan.

  our job was to play the role of afghans and taliban.. gsdf has our own barracks at fort stewart.

  What is the Witness view of seeking psychological help and medication?

  its been so long since i was involved with the policies of the witnesss.

  i just have not kept track of their grandiose wise views, (snicker) concerning this subject.

  so any input or attachments would be appreciated.

  Back in the early 90s when it was known in the congregation that I was getting professional help and medication for depression and PAD, I was treated like a pariah. My so called friends scattered like i had the plague.

  One elder in particular was convinced that it was caused by some secret sin i was commiting.

  It was what led me to finally see the kult for what it reaaly was. Once I left, the depression eased immeasurably.

  I was working for an engineering firm that provided staffing support for the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY.

  I just interviewed for a job working as a civilian attached to the AF working on a UAV program in Rome, NY, airborne robots that detect IEDs from aloft. And I told this to the witnoids who came to my door to check up on me last Saturday Am . . they had funny looks . . .

  Interesting. I was aware that Ethanol had it's downside, but was unaware of how large the downside was . . .

  I was in NH for the July 4th Holiday and could not find gasoline that was not 10% ethanol . . I reluctantly filled my 1987 Porsche with the schtuff and experienced much reduced gasoline mileage. While traveling back through Vermont to NY I could not find gasoline without ethanol . . I asked a Vermont gas station owner where I could get gasoline without ethanol and he replied "Good luck with that!" Only when I got back to Central NY could I find it.

  Now I have to make sure that Mrs LoB does not use ethanol laced fuel . . .

  Anybody remember a QFR on JW nurses tattling on blood transfusions?

  i've looked on jwn (first) and watchtower library (second) and can't find a questions from readers that i thought i remembered from the 70s or 80s.

  maybe it wasn't actually a qfr.

  anyway, the gist of the question was, what does a conscientious jw nurse do when, in the course of her duties, she becomes aware of a fellow jw who is accepting a blood transfusion or getting an abortion.

  I remember that article.

  Mrs LoB works as an administrator at a local Hospital. There are at least two Witnoids locally who were fired and lost their nursing licence for doing just such a thing. Mrs. LoB, being a respector of privacy AND Federal law does not speak of the details of the cases (and she knows) so I cannot speak to the details.

  HIPAA is enforced by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Dept. of Civil Rights and they do not fuck around with these things.

  About 13 years ago, in my final stages of leaving the Kult (tm) for the second and final time I used that very same easoning on my "True Believer" (tm) father. In the same analogy I also portrayed Samson as the first suicide bomber.

  For the only time in my life I heard fear in his voice as his brain tried to reconcile the TRUTH with "The Truth" (tm).

  He hung up on me. He hasn't talked to me since.

  Terrible, terrible things are happening there. We sometimes become complacent here in the west because we live in a relatively stable and benign society compared to much of the world. Let us hope his death was not in vain and that change does come in Iran . .

  That said, that isn't much of a sniper if he only scored one hit out of all those shots . . the Sniper Creed "One shot, One kill".

  MEN - when did you finally understand/ forgive your Dad?

  most men will agree that in the teens they all fall out with and disagree with their father.. when did you start to understand where he was coming from?.

  i remember a poem, where the writer describes how he always thought his dad was mean and intransigent.

  he is lighting the boiler in the morning, and starts remembering how all through his childhood, the house was heated when he got up, and like his own father he cleans everybodys shoes before they get up on sunday.. i think it is only when you go through a similar crisis to the father, or finally have rebelling sons that true understanding kicks in.. i was vile to my father whilst he was dying of cancer.

  I have forgiven but am still angry.

  We came into the kult when I was 5, in 1958. He was mentally and physically abusive and a hypocrit, still is. I am legally blind in my left eye and partially deaf in my left ear due to his beatings.

  He held all congregational positions, wore his righteousness like an overcoat that went on when around other witnoids, came off otherwise. Had me fucking scared shitless of dying at armageddon most of my life from 5 to 13 or so when I started to figure it out. He ALWAYS treated other witnoids better than his own family.

  He was a womanizer and a philanderer.

  He made millions in the 60s and 70s in construction and real estate and land speculation. then pissed it away pioneering for the kult in the 80s and 90s to absolve himself. He owned three beautiful homes. He pioneered right through the bank repoing his $500,000 country home up north. Then moved to another home he owned down south until the bank repoed that one a few years later. Now he is living in a rental cottage that he owned with it mortgaged to the limit (way beyond actually) and will be repoed eventually.

  Now he is old, sick, and penniless, living on credit card debt. He doesn't get much SS because he didn't report but a minimum of his earnings during his life.

  He could have done alot for his sons, left a ton of assetts and a thriving construction business to us when he passed, but he didn't, the kult got every last penny. We have had to make it for ourselves. I have two brothers still in who are on the same track as him. My youngest brother never bought into it, he is doing OK.

  The sins of the fathers . . .

  Reflecting on the above, no I have not forgiven.

  i remember when i was a kid listening to the sweet guitar sounds of the ventures.

  i loved walk don't run, hawaii five-o and a string of instrumental songs that just blew me away.

  there sound was a big inspiration to me as i learned to play guitar.
